Who's behind this?

The whole firm fits on this page – by design.

Sooner or later, in every tired team trying to figure out why the same issues keep cropping up, somebody says it: “That’s just how we are.” Most of the time, everybody nods, and moves on. This makes us sad.

We founded Kingdom Noël on the conviction that “how we are” is not destiny, but a data point that is too fuzzy to act on; a measurement nobody has taken. We take it.

Science + systems

The science we base all our work on is not ours – on purpose. Plenty of firms seek comfort in frameworks they have invented themselves. Our instruments come from industrial sociology, organizational psychology, and human risk research: peer-reviewed, validated over decades, worldwide. We didn’t invent them. We learned how to use them where it counts.

What’s ours is the application: the software that turns those instruments into working tools. An academic-level comparison dataset collected across two decades, across the globe. And the craft of measuring inside a live operation without stopping it.

Kingdom Noël works globally and is principal-led on every engagement. We will never scale out of this: senior expertise belongs on the factory floor, sleeves up, solving problems. Not selling work for juniors to deliver.

Two decades of applied quantitative sociology with one focus throughout: the gap between the official version of an organization and the real one, and what to do about it. Before the consultancy came a stretch in the European space industry, and an award-winning career making documentary films – two different trainings in watching how systems and people actually behave. He leads every engagement in person, writes The Workings on Tuesdays, and is teaching himself handwriting with his off-hand; there’s no better way to understand the struggle of technology adoption than to struggle with the adoption of technology.

Stephan builds the machines that make our quantitative, scientific methods tangible and pragmatic: the analysis tools, the pattern recognition, the systems that align process modeling with team sociology. He turns what we find in the field into something a company can actually use, not just look at and wonder what’s next. Years of building instruments for reading organizations has made him, in everything but title, a sociologist who can also ship software. He is the reason that most of what we see is visible at all.

The engine room

Only a handful of people, by design. They run our messy engine room: production, logistics, quality, admin. They don’t run the principals’ errands; they run the production that keeps the principals on client work. Senior expertise does not trickle down, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

The straight facts

Active since 2003; first major corporate engagement in 2004.

Incorporated in 2014 in Cologne, at the banks of the river Rhine.

Now in Monheim am Rhein's corporate cluster – on the banks of the same river.

Based in Germany, global reach: engagements in USA, CA, UAE, HK, MY, and across the EU.

Boutique by design: two principals deliver every engagement + small team keeping them going.

Methods from peer-reviewed organizational research, not frameworks invented for slides.

Our software and systems are our own: designed, written, and maintained in-house.

Because of this, we have full control of how your data is handled.

The people on this page are the people who show up.
